I am thrilled at the opportunity to be at the Black Hills Sports Show at our Pennington County Republican booth and talk with God-fearing Americans that love our country and our rights. One of the things that I hear over and over again is the concern over crime and the safety in our community. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you can’t fight crime sitting behind a desk. I’m not a politician, I’m a working man, and I’ll be a working Sheriff, beating the street and out in the communities that I’m called to serve and protect – just like you’ll see me now on the campaign trail.
Another question at the Sports Show that comes up is how I stand on the Second Amendment? I’m proud to say, you won’t find a stronger supporter. In fact, I’m the only candidate in this race who has attended Constitutional Sheriff’s and Peace Officers Association training from Sheriff Richard Mack himself, and I fully supports your God-given right to carry.
Sadly, my opponent while claiming to support our Second Amendment rights, is a member of an organization that fought the passage of Constitutional Carry in our state’s capitol almost every year it appeared until it passed as the first bill ever signed by Governor Noem in 2019, and this organization even supported a statewide gun owner registry list to treat law-abiding gun owners like sex offenders. 2005: HB 1209; 2015: HB 1096; 2017: HB 1072 & SB 94; 2019: SB 47
And speaking of being out in the community, I’ve even been in New Underwood, Hill City, Rockerville, and Wall. If you get a chance come on down to the Black Hills Sports Show today and tomorrow, February 12 & 13th, and come see me, but if not, don’t worry I’ll be coming to a community near you soon.
